Week one of keto..

So daily updates are out, so a weekly blog post seems more reasonable! 🙂

I’m doing really great on sticking to the keto diet! I only had one day of weakness where my body was craving carbs- but I just had a few, just for one meal.

I have been cooking all of my meals, only eating at home-and feeling much better! (Saving $ too!)

I bought some ketosis strips from CVS- They are showing small amounts of ketones in my system, so I need to play with my diet to see what I can do to get in full blown ketosis.

There were a few days last week where I had very little energy, but I powered through and got over the “carb flu”.

My favorite recipe that has saved me is keto pancakes- very simple recipe, but makes you feel like you’re eating a pancake! I added some cool whip and a tiny bit of sugar free syrup- so it cured my sweet tooth.

Cauliflower is replacing all the rice I consume, and I’m adding lots of healthy fats, especially BUTTER!

I am much less achy!! I’m not swollen, I feel leaner and my brain fog has lessened-and I’M DOWN 4 lbs!!!

So far so good, I have no plans of quitting this plan anytime soon!

Auto-immune disease & Keto diet

I was recently diagnosed with auto-immune disease. They don’t quite know for sure WHICH AI disease it is, but rheumatoid arthritis is involved. I am 34 years old, but I feel much older. I am frequently achy, fatigued, puffy, foggy and stiff. I started taking medication about a month ago, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve been reading quite a bit about the correlation between the foods we eat and AI dz and came to the realization that I may be the one causing my own pain.

I don’t have a horrible diet- I don’t drink soda, I don’t drink any sugary drinks, I don’t eat a ton of sweets- but I do indulge more than I should. I love chips, tacos, pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches. If there is candy or cake at my house, I’ll usually eat it. I notice when I have a bad diet day I will wake up the next morning and my entire body will hurt, portions of my body hurt if I touch the area and my eyes will be puffy. It’s definitely a sugar hang over.

I decided that today is the day that sugar is getting cut out of my diet. I’m committing to 10 a 10 day sugar detox to see how I’ll feel. I’m hoping the inflammation that is plaguing my body will vacate the premises once and for all!

10 days doesn’t seem like much, but for me and my relationship with food- it’s a lifetime! I’ll try to post daily to update how I feel and to stay accountable.

Day 1:

Today I’m feeling hungry, but no crazy cravings- I weigh 154, which is normal for me.

I am extremely achy today, I took a pain pill in order to function. 😫 I did have a pancake, a sugar cookie, and a small amount of bread yesterday. More carbs than usual, but not an extreme amount.

My amazing luck continues…

Last weekend a friend and I decided to spend the weekend at our lake house. It is pretty cold in Oklahoma, but a nice, quiet weekend sounded perfect. The weather was better than we expected and we actually saw several eagles! (I love looking for eagles, I’m pretty sure they are my spirit animal-after the unicorn of course!) 🦄🦅

It got dark early, so we ventured out to one of the nearby (nearby at the lake is about an hour drive) casinos. I couldn’t decide which casino I wanted to go to, so I had my friend flip a coin-Cherokee casino won the toss!

We walk in and hear that they are giving away cash every 30 minutes to players club members. I renew my card and my friend signs up. We complete all our entries and head to the bar to get a drink and a bite to eat.

We weren’t even at the bar for 10 minutes and I hear my name over the intercom-so I went back to the players club area and asked what I had won- to my surprise, it was $1000 cash!!! Cash that I manifested by my thoughts

The fact that I won this didn’t surprise me.. I have coined myself as “The luckiest person I know” and I’m not shy to tell everyone that. What really gave me goosebumps about this event is that I had been listening to a specific podcast for 2 weeks prior titled “The money babe challenge, how to manifest $1000 into your life” I have been following the steps in the December Challenge, a few of them are below:

  • Treat money as if it is energy.
  • Be grateful for every cent you already have and every cent that comes into your life, no matter if it is just one penny!
  • Treat the money as if it is already yours and be thankful for it.
  • Don’t worry about how the money will appear, just know that it will

WOOWOO!!! It worked! You better believe I’m going to up this amount and follow these principles EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!

I continue to be amazed at the life I create with my mind. I am so grateful for everything I have and everything I have coming to me. I am so excited to see what I will manifest this year, and hope I can convince others that they can create any life they desire-you just have to believe it.

Word of the year

I’ve never heard of using a “word of the year” as a guide until recently, but when I did hear about it- I immediately knew what my 2018 word was going to be. A word to guide me and motivate me towards my goals. I’ve been in a very transformative period of my life for the past year – I’ve grown personally and professionally but it’s only left me craving more transformation. I’m obsessed with being the best possible Sarah I can be, in all areas of my life: the best wife, mother, employee, business owner, daughter and servant.

So it’s only fitting that my word of 2018 is GROWTH. I’ve got this word on my screensaver, my phone background, written in my journal, on my vision board- and other random places around my home and office. Anytime I see this word it’s just a small nudge to keep pushing through, that any type of resistance is an opportunity for growth.

I would love to hear your word of the year and your reasoning behind it!

Something magical happened to me today…

Have you ever had something happen where there is no other explanation for it- it was just magic?

I had one of those experiences today- if you know me, my life is very serendipitous- I have little magic moments quite frequently. But today-even though the end result was something insignificant- how if happened was nothing short of magic.

I’ve been doing a lot of mind work lately, all having to do with the law of attraction and (I live my life by these principals) so for this to happen today-it was perfect timing.

Here’s what happened…

I had a lady call me this morning that was a customer at the last show Sixfourteen participated in- Mistletoe Market- she bought a bracelet that I didn’t have, but I wrote her name down and told her I would get one for her and ship it- but totally forgot about it- So I went to my wholesale supply store where I usually purchase these bracelets with my friend Carrie. I call this store the “crack store” because it’s like going to a drug store- the hardcore drug store- there is so much to choose from and it’s easy to get addicted… I never leave there with less than $500 in merchandise- at wholesale prices mind you… that’s A LOT of crack!!

We searched for this particular bracelet for 10 minutes (like a needle in a hay stack in that place, there are literally over 1 million items in this store- makes type-A people have serious anxiety just by walking in the door…) We couldn’t find the bracelet, so I grabbed something similar hoping my customer would be ok with it, but wasn’t happy I couldn’t deliver on my promise… We were about to leave and Carrie is rummaging through some bins on the floor- I close my eyes and say to myself- “when I open my eyes, I’m going to find that bracelet…..”

I opened my eyes- and the first thing I saw was THAT EXACT BRACELET!!! It was literally a foot away from me, in the random bin on the floor that Carrie just went through 10 seconds before I closed my eyes.

I had chills that wouldn’t go away for 5 minutes, and have them again as I’m typing this. I couldn’t believe my eyes…

Magic bracelet

I’ve been really digging deep into mind work, law of attraction and self development lately and one of my morning routines is mantras that I say to myself or out loud- each morning I say this one particular mantra.. “something magical is going to happen to me today….” And each day-something magical HAS happened!

They may be very insignificant life events, but they are pure magic in my eyes. I am 100% convinced in the power of the mind and the power of positive thinking. This event has stirred my mind up even more and has challenged me to find the magic events that happen every day and share them.. Hopefully I’m able to inspire someone else to create a little magic in their life..

Summer reflection

Summer 2017 flew by way too quickly and I feel like I haven’t had time to process it. I quit a job, I took a couple months off work to spend with my son, started a new job, travelled to Florida and Las Vegas, sparked up many new friendships, spent quality time with my husband at the lake, and many other significant events that are too long to list.

I continue to put irons in the fire, but the hours in the day remain the same. This is something that I complain about when I’m in the moment, but when I have time to sit back and reflect I realize how truly blessed I am to be overwhelmingly busy. I don’t think I’ve said the phrase “I’m bored” in 2 years- and I am extremely grateful for that.

The next couple months are going to be a whirlwind, but I’m ready to take it head on- I’m traveling to New York City for business, my sister is getting married, a friend is getting married, my son has basketball games every weekend, junior league events are beginning to take over my life-and prep for Mistletoe Market should have already begun-on top of wholesale orders and holiday specials- I’m not sure how I’ll do it, but I do know I will no longer look at my full schedule as a burden or hassle, I will make a conscious effort to be present more often and I will count every single event on my calendar as a blessing.

Cheer to fall and packed schedules!!

It’s finally here…

Over the weekend I submitted the very last college paper of my 17 year (undergrad) college career. The emotions that surged through my body when I clicked “submit” were unreal. I got chills. I had tears in my eyes. I have tears in my eyes typing this. Going back to college as an adult is hard. I have boasted about how easy this has been for the past year, but that was a lie. Looking back, the last year was a complete blur-but I wouldn’t trade the lack of sleep or the endless hours in front of my computer writing, reading, and enriching my life for anything. The last year My life has been comparable to a tornado, but it was totally worth it. I am SO PROUD of myself-and that’s not easy for me to admit. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA somehow and for those who know me-you know I’m not a scholarly individual-nor am I the type of person to stick to anything until completion. This degree is solid proof to me that you can do anything you set your mind to.

If you wonder if you should complete college-stop thinking about it and JUST DO IT! I guarantee you will not look back on that decision wishing you hadn’t done it.

Congratulations to all the graduates of 2017!!

Graduation deserves a selfie!

Bedroom makeover!!!

Oh what a difference furniture can make!! My husband and I have HATED our bedroom furniture for the longest time, but we did not want to settle for something we didn’t love… well- we finally found it! Actually, my husband did- and he surprised me with it. My son and I took a short trip to Texas over spring break and I came home to this…..

My husband is good at surprises!

It was quite a big change from this…

I have never had so much joy walking into my bedroom before! I changed up some of the decor and this is the current result:

New furniture makes all the difference in the world

I am working on the art above the bed and the room will be complete. I swapped out curtains and bedside lamps, art and a rug to tie everything together. I added a salt lamp and some crystals for some fung shui. I am IN LOVE with our bedroom and can not wait for our next room makeover! Living room, coming soon!!

Furniture: Bernhardt

Bedding: Dillard’s

Lamps: IO Metro

Curtains: Kirklands

Rug: At Home

Art: Hobby Lobby

My Mom’s Christmas gift…A late update…

I was able to give my Mom an envelope for Christmas.  It was stuffed with what I consider one of my greatest accomplishments.  I gave her an invitation to my college graduation.  She had no idea I returned to school to finish my college degree until she opened that envelope.  I was nervous, my son was anxious, my husband was excited.  When she read the graduation announcement, the tears began to fall-from both of us.  All she could say was “that is a really great gift”.  She couldn’t believe it and I was so relieved to FINALLY reveal the secret I had been keeping for over a year.

My husband was shocked that she didn’t know. My whole family knew, but knew to keep it a secret from Mom.  My 8 year old somehow kept that secret for over a year.  He proved to me that I can trust him with big secrets, and that is a huge deal!!

I’m now 2 months away from finishing this 17 year project-and I couldn’t be happier.  I have enriched my life by returning to school to complete my degree.  I encourage anyone who thinks about returning to school to finish their degree-to JUST DO IT! Make one last final effort to push through and DON’T STOP until you have that degree in your hand!  May 6, 2017 will be one happy day for me as I will walk across that stage at UCO in Edmond, Oklahoma.
